For the first time in the history of men’s volleyball, Russia has been granted the right to host the World Championship. Ten cities of our country will host the tournament held from August 26 to September 11, 2022, at the same time.

Krasnoyarsk is one of these cities: national teams of Argentina, Iran, the Netherlands, and Egypt will play here on August 27–29. In case you decide not only to attend the matches of these teams, but also to get to know Krasnoyarsk better, we have prepared useful guide that will help you spend time in this city in an interesting and delicious manner.

Krasnoyarsk Big Ben

If you want to feel as if you were in London, while not leaving Siberia, be sure to visit this landmark. Krasnoyarsk Big Ben really resembles the original, and it is best to visit it in the evening: special lighting makes it even more magnificent.

Teatralnaya (Theater) Square

Right after Big Ben, take a look at one of the most beautiful places in Krasnoyarsk — the Teatralnaya Square. Two main fountains of the city are located here: the light and music fountain and the Reki Sibiri (Rivers of Siberia) Fountain. In the dark, the fountains are illuminated with 600 various lamps, so there will definitely be an unforgettable sight. They operate every day except Thursday.

Church of the Annunciation

This church impresses with its size and scale: it is no wonder that the Yenisei masons spent about 20 years to build it. One of the main churches of Krasnoyarsk can be found at Lenin Str., 15.

Gremyachaya Griva Eco-park

If you have an irresistible desire to go to the bent, while not being eager to leave the city, Gremyachaya Griva will be a great place for your leisure. Here you can take a walk in the woods, ride a bike, do sports, or just spend time in a peaceful and comfortable environment. To get to this heavenly location, take a bus (31, 32, 88 or 90), and get off at the Akademia Biatlona (Biathlon Academy) stop.

Stolby (The Pillars) State Nature Reserve

You can get to this wonderful place by bus (50, 50a, 50k, 19, 78): you need to get off at the Turbaza (Camp Site) stop and then walk another 7 km on foot. The Krasnoyarsk pillars are rocks that were once given such a nickname because their shape resembled pillars a lot. In the reserve, there are hundreds of greyish pink granite rocks, and each of them has its own name based on external features of the rock.

Here you can enjoy the nature of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and admire the amazing rocks, as well as engage in mountaineering: the Stolby Nature Reserve is very popular among professionals and fans of mountain climbing. Tip: it is best to come here early in the morning, while there is almost no tourists.

Krasnoyarsk Ropeway

Another Krasnoyarsk sight for those who like being outside is the ropeway you can go to straight after a visit to the Stolby Nature Reserve. It is located in close proximity to the imposing rocks — on the territory of the Bobrovy Log ski resort. The ropeway will take you to the top hills of the Eastern Sayan Mountains, where you can enjoy the magnificent views of the forests. And with powerful binoculars you will even be able to see the surroundings of Krasnoyarsk.

Steamer St. Nicholas

In the 19th century, this steamer was the fastest and most comfortable one. The statement can be proved by the fact that even future Emperor Nicholas II used it to travel. Now this work of art, which is more than 200 years old, stands at the Yenisei embankment as a museum. It hosts both expositions and various exhibitions. Krasnoyarsk Museum Center

This place will definitely wow arts lovers. The Krasnoyarsk Museum Center (KMC) is the largest contemporary art exhibit space in Siberia. And a giant tablet installed in the cash register area so that guests could play various games while waiting for their order has become a real feature of this coffee shop.

Mike& Molly Café-Bar

A small café serving fine Italian pizza from a wood-burning oven is located at Diktatury Proletariata Street, 32a. Guests are delighted with Mike’s signature pizza (cream sauce, Mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, bacon, and chicken fillet), and if you are not a big fan of this dish, then Caesar salad with tiger prawns, white wine-based seafood soup, and many kinds of pastes are at your service. Surely, you will not leave hungry. The average bill in the café-bar is about 700 rubles.

Tunguska Restaurant

The next gastronomic stop is the Tunguska Restaurant. Here you are immediately immersed in a severe atmosphere: dark colors prevail in the interior, and the decoration is mostly concrete and actual wood. This restaurant is notable for an original way to serve dishes, so those who like the visual component in cooking will be satisfied.

Yeniseychik Volleyball Club

Yeniseychik is the first volleyball club for children from 4 to 8 years old beyond the Urals. However, classes are held here for children up to 12 years old. Children are trained by qualified coaches that do not only develop their pupils physically, but also cultivate love for volleyball in their hearts.

Urban Venues for Beach Volleyball

In Krasnoyarsk, one of the first official beach volleyball playgrounds was opened on the Otdykha (Recreation) Island in the very center of the city. Also, there are many beach volleyball playgrounds scattered on the Yenisei bank.

The clock counting down the time until the start of the Men’s Volleyball World Championship is located on the left bank of the Yenisei River — on the embankment, near the Kommunalny (Communal) Bridge.
